Nyot Foundation was established in 2024 to honour the remarkable legacy of Dr. Peter Nyot Kok, a distinguished intellectual, scholar, and freedom fighter. Dr. Kok, hailing from Rumbek, South Sudan, dedicated his life to the pursuit of education, human rights, and peace. Educated at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including University of Khartoum, SOAS, Yale, and Sorbonne, he was a beacon of knowledge and an advocate for justice.

The foundation was created to preserve and promote the values Dr. Kok championed throughout his life. His unwavering commitment to education, peace-building, and human rights left an indelible mark on countless lives in South Sudan and beyond. The foundation seeks to continue his mission by supporting educational initiatives and sustainable development and advocating for human rights and social justice.

Dr. Kok’s legacy as a freedom fighter and a proponent of peace and understanding is a guiding light for the foundation’s work. By fostering educational opportunities and promoting the principles he stood for, the foundation aims to inspire and empower future generations to strive for a better, more equitable world.
